Security First.
We designed TextSwift so that your data never leaves your control.
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 14, 20261. Introduction
TextSwift ("we," "our," or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how TextSwift handles your data when you install and use the extension.
2. Data Collection and Storage
TextSwift is designed to be a privacy-first application. We do not collect, transmit, distribute, or sell your personal data.
- Local Storage: All snippets, templates, shortcuts, and usage analytics (such as time saved) are stored entirely on your local device and synced using your browser's built-in Google Chrome Sync (
chrome.storage.sync). We do not have access to this data. - No External Servers: TextSwift does not connect to any external databases or third-party servers.
3. Text Input and Keystrokes
To provide auto-expanding text shortcuts, TextSwift requests permission to run on all websites (<all_urls>). The extension listens for specific keystroke patterns (your shortcut triggers) locally in your browser.
- Keystrokes are processed in real-time on your device to match your saved shortcuts.
- Keystrokes are never recorded, logged, or transmitted outside of your current browser session.
4. Permissions Needed
- storage: Required to save your rich-text templates and shortcut settings locally.
- activeTab &
<all_urls>: Required to detect when you type a shortcut and to inject your saved snippet into the active text field on the web pages you visit.
5. Third-Party Sharing
Because we do not collect any data, we do not share, sell, or rent any personal information to third parties.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or Chrome Web Store policies. Updates will be reflected by the "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
